Franklin County resident John Cahill, from Greenfield, was accused of spraying people with bear spray at the 110 Grill in West Lebanon, NH, around 8:31 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, Lebanon Police said.
Witnesses described seeing Cahill confront four people who were crossing the road while he was exiting I-89 nearby. Cahill then followed the group to the restaurant and sprayed them with bear spray, police said.
This impacted several people eating on the front patio as well and Cahill proceeded to threaten more people by challenging them to a fight, police said. He then got back in his car and drove away.
The four people who were sprayed and several bystanders all experienced symptoms from being exposed to the bear spray, police said.
Cahill is now facing several charges including six counts of simple assault and criminal threatening, police said. He was said to have appeared in court on Monday.
